CAROLYN WHITE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 2017

When: Sunday, June 18, 2-00 pm

Where: Unley Uniting Church, 187 Unley Road, Unley

Admission: gold coin donation.

The Carolyn White Memorial Scholarship is for young flautists aged fifteen years or under on January 1, 2017. It provides them with the opportunity to prepare and perform works and to compete for cash prizes which may be used for tuition expenses or towards the cost of a new instrument or new music.

Entrants are required to perform the following on a C Concert Flute:

a) Set piece: Les Plaisirs from Suite in A minor, Telemann (Peters or any recognised edition)

b) Own choice piece, time limit is 6 minutes

The Carolyn White Memorial Scholarship will consist of two prizes:

First Prize $250

Second Prize $100 (donated by Elizabeth Koch AM)

Where: St Andrew’s School Performing Arts Centre, 22 Smith Street, Walkerville.

This will be another day of fun and excitement for young flautists. So, note the date!!

ADELAIDE EISTEDDFOD FLUTE AND WOODWIND DIVISIONS 2017

When: August 11-15.

Venues: Salvation Army Citadel, 55 George Street, Norwood and Unley Uniting Church, 187 Unley Road, Unley.

Adjudicators: Neil Fisenden (flute); Tim Nott (Woodwind)

Entries for the 2017 Adelaide Eisteddfod will be electronic. Stardom is being used, visit https://www.stardom.com.au and look for ‘Adelaide Eisteddfod’ under ‘Participating Eisteddfods’. Visit the Adelaide Eisteddfod website at http://sacomment.com/aes/eisteddfod/ for more information. Entries will close on April 13 at 5 pm. No late entries will be accepted.

Entry in the SA Final of Young Virtuoso, offered by the Fine Music network of radio stations, is via the Wind Recital. The Instrumental Prize for the SA Final is $750 and the SA Finalist Prize is $1,500. The National Finalist will be awarded a travelling scholarship ($10,000).

ADELAIDE EISTEDDFOD SPECIAL AWARD WINNERS’ CONCERT

When: Monday, September 25, 7-30 pm

Where: Salvation Army Citadel, 55 George Street, Norwood.

Admission: Adult, $10; Seniors/Students, $8; Children under 16 free

YOUNG VIRTUOSO SA FINAL 2017 (previously MBS Young Performer)

Adjudicators: Monika Laczofy and Pat Wilson.

When: Sunday, October 15, 2-30 pm

Where: St John’s Anglican Church, 379 Halifax Street, Adelaide

Admission: Adult $15, 5MBS Member/Student $5

 

DAVID CUBBIN MEMORIAL FUND FOR 2017

Grants are available to assist young Australian flautists attend a Flute Festival or Flute Event during 2017.  Please send a letter requesting financial assistance to David Cubbin Memorial Fund, C/- Robert Brown, PO Box 3228, Norwood, SA 5067 by Monday, May 1, 2017.  Please include your contact information – postal address, telephone number, e-mail address.  Applicants are required to provide a supporting letter from their teacher.
